Junji Ito

The "Tomie" series, as a classic in Junji Ito's horror comics, the violent and bloody style and grotesque stories, let the image of Tomie quickly penetrate into the hearts of the people. This woman who can't be killed made everyone in the stories unconsciously obsessed with her, lure out the strong desire to possess deep in people's heart, and eventually want to kill her. But the no matter how many times been killed, Tomie will not die. She will split into new individuals, like viruses. One Tomie get killed, there will be two new Tomie come out. And each Fujiang is mutually exclusive, extremely distorted and selfish. But they are not evil, the image presented by Tomie seems to only magnify the shortcomings of all people's hearts, and shown through exaggerated expressions.
Runji Ito's style is very suitable for expressing strange things. His characters are not like nine heads tall in other manga, with their eyes occupy most of their face. But Runji Ito tries to make the character being close to the ratio of real human body. And his keeps the lines clean.
What is interesting in Runji Ito's manga is that he has a very interesting perspective about horror. From a small incident lead to an abnormal incident and eventually escalated to everyone ’s abnormal. Until the final result is revealed, no one can know the truth of the incident. Another characteristic of him is the use of group. Ito often uses a large number of the same people or things appear in a row or disorderly appearance. The usage of big groups will give the reader a strong sense of oppression.
